Ow

Anyone have any back care tips? My back has been killing me since I started this new "desk job". I bought a repulsively expensive chair, an ergonomic keyboard for my laptop, an electric heating pad, memory foam pillows and mattress topper... nothing seems to help. My lower back, neck, shoulders, spine, everything hurts!! </whine>

Heck yeah! In fact, I need a masseur. I need a very large raise so that I can hire some good help. That would do the trick (not that I'm looking for a masseur who turns tricks, cuz I'm totally not into that).

I'd say to take many breaks and do some quick neck/back stretches and exercises at your desk. Otherwise, I don't know. But I've been there and it does suck. :(

I know you're right. I tend not to take stretching breaks at all except at lunch. I'm going to take one right now. Thank you!

um...that sucks.

back issues are the worst. i recommend biofreeze, ice and heat packs, and um...all the stuff you already apparently have.

LOL. I haven't noticed any improvement with any of this stuff. Health insurance/chiropractic would help, I bet. So, the hot-and-cold stuff -- is that for healing or just for numbing? As much as it sucks to be in pain all the time, I'm actually a lot more concerned with what's causing it than how it feels.

*puts on nurse hat*

it's both treatment and can help tell you the cause. for example if it's a strained muscle the heat might help it relax and heal. it would also help if it's a pinched nerve, improving blood flow etc.

as for the cold...it mostly just numbs...but um...yeah.

i would rotate. an hour of hot, an hour of cold...

but what the fuck do i know? i'm just the drunk whore in the corner...who's had a bad back for years. ;p
