On Saturday we had free passes to visit the Wild Animal Park for the Festival of Lights. The lights were all destroyed by fire last year, so these were all shiny and new. We got to experience real! snow, giraffes licking barbed wire, antelope kissing, and the prettiest spider I've ever seen:
We also got tickets to a sneak preview of Valkyrie on Monday, which was *veryboring*.
On Sunday, we saw the Parade of Lights in the bay (a bunch of boats decorated with colored lights, preceded by fireworks). That was fun for about 10 minutes.
Weekend before last, we went to December Nights at Balboa Park, along with about 30,000 other people:
I think that was just the line for the mobile Starbucks. Seriously, we did take a picture of that line. It was ridiculous.
The event was fun: didgeridoo demonstrations, reindeer that looked like they actually flew, Christmas Caroling with the choir, gourd ornaments, and $15 1-hour massage gift certificates (valid in San Diego only -- sorry, guys).
