*loves* Ishtar
I met Ishtar . We met at the Lodge at noon. I stood out front watching for her car, and when I spotted it, I stalked her into the parking lot. I was so excited. A little nervous, too. We started chatting right away (and I was afraid we wouldn't have anything to talk about, lol). I took her out to lunch, only she paid before I could, the little sneak. :)
We talked all through lunch, then Ishtar apologized for talking my ear off or some such. LOL! Ish, In a 24 hour period, I spent 5 or 6 hours talking with you on IM. If I thought you talked too much, it would've come up before now!
After lunch, she gave me presents (!): a bottle of sherry, fishnet tights, and Vapo-rub (which I begged for). Then we drove up to Badger Pass, the ski area where I work. Did I mention I am the worst navigator that ever was? I go up there every day and I couldn't remember whether it was right or left... good thing Ish has a great sense of direction.
Anyway, we made it. I gave her the tour, got us equipped and ticketed, and we headed for the bunny slope. It was my first time out, though I've been working there for a couple months now. I was too scared to try it alone, and couldn't find anyone I wanted to go with. Ishtar turned out to be the perfect ski partner.
I rode the chair lift alone the first time, luckily for Ishtar. I was squealing the whole way up, giggling like mad, talking to myself reassuringly. Did I mention I'm deathly afraid of heights?
I biffed it my first time off the chair lift. They had to stop the darn thing while they hauled me up. How embarrassing. I decided not to do that again. Ishtar joined me, and gave me some tips from her vast well of experience (she'd been skiing once before). Then I went down. I got to the bottom of the slope in one piece. That's the important thing.
We took on the bunny slope a few more times (with me yelling "Victory!!!" or something to that effect every time I successfully exited the chair lift). Then we headed for the next-easiest run. After some very bad directions from a Very Bad man, we ended up on the new board park. This is an obstacle course for snowboarders. Did I mention obstacle course?
I turned sharply to avoid a jump, touched skis with Ishtar, and turned back to make sure she was ok. Big mistake. I fell flat, right in front of the jump, and could not for the life of me get up again. Ishtar tried helping me for about 15 minutes, falling down once herself in the process(and springing right back up somehow). I finally gave up, took off my skis, and carried them to a flat area to put them back on. Ishtar was sure I would lose them. I figured I would rather chase them down the slope than try and use the heat from my butt to melt my way to the bottom of the hill. Plan B worked like a charm. Uh, that's the put-the-skis-back-on plan, not the melty-butt plan.
Ishtar talked me into continuing down the slope, rather than trying to cut back to an easier one. She led the way, and I made it without falling again, so good call Ishtar. Upon successfully (miraculously) reaching the bottom, we went back up and took the slope we meant to in the first place. That's the most fun I've had in about ever. Plus, no falling. Yay!
The lifts had stopped by then (we only had a couple hours to start with), so we called it a day. I felt like jelly but I couldn't stop grinning. I hope Ish had half as much fun as I did.
I introduced Ishtar to my husband, and he hitched a ride with us back to the valley. Ishtar had to work in the morning, so I couldn't talk her into staying any longer. We said our goodbyes, waved her off, and she was gone. :(
Come back anytime, Ish!!!

I can't argue with the appeal of sun and surf though. And yes, I am a very lucky girl. I'll drag Ishtar back out here in the summer and we can do something sunny! You are gently (pleasepleaseplease) encouraged to join us!
