My 1st White Christmas

Christmas was wonderful. Yesterday was the first time it snowed in Yosemite Valley in weeks. Everything is more beautiful covered in snow. Even me, if my husband can be considered a reliable source.

I had some great conversations. My husband and I started the day by comparing/contrasting Kermit/Miss Piggy and Clark/Lana. My coworkers were in high spirits, and I had a smile on my face the whole day.

Until the very end of my shift. Do you know the meaning of the phrase “tough customer”? Yeah, you think you do. My manager found me hiding in the corner behind my register, curled into a fetal position. He dragged me up, whimpering, and gave me a hug. Things got better again after that.

Have I mentioned that my manager is freakin awesome? They call him Mr. Fun. Seriously. He gave me a ride, because that last customer didn’t leave until we’d been closed for half an hour, and the bus left without me. He peeled out in the snow and went skidding/spinning around the parking lot for a couple minutes before veering onto the road. It was like a carnival ride. There were four of us in the car and we were all giggling like little girls.

The drive was otherwise uneventful. We talked about backpacking through Europe, which all of us had done. We talked about a lot of things, actually, none of which had anything to do with work (Yay!)

I went to the employees’ Christmas dinner. Ate way too much, chatted with my husband and half a dozen of our friends, laughed until I fell out of my chair. Into the giant Christmas tree behind me.

It doesn’t get much better.

Gehhh. Ack. So, you must have rules about slapping customers in the face, then. Yeah, I guess hiding was the way to go.

No! It sure doesn't! Go your manager for being nice enough to get you home, on a night he'd probably rather be home himself. That customer... rude people really need to be sterilized, you know? At the very least. Just because he has nothing to go home to on the holiday and is all cranky doesn't mean he should share the wealth of his bad attitude. But I suppose I'm being unfair; I shouldn't bad-mouth obnoxious twits merely because they are unspeakably vile. I'm sure the serve a purpose, somewhere... Got any hungry bears? I already mentioned jam!

Didn't see yet the lj post you wanted me to find & read. But I'm going to keep a-lookin'! I liked the one about the "Buddy Dave" t-shirts. Yes! You should all get them and wear them. It would probably freak him in more way than just one: wondering WTH you're up to, and why are you now plastering a pic/name of one of his best friends across your chests? Is he losing his touch? LOL!

*g* I wish I had your way with words.
Honestly, though, it wasn't the customer that got to me. It was the situation. Customers waiting in line, my manager looking anxious because we really should have been closed already, and me feeling helpless to do anything about any of it. Stress. Lack of breathing. I got over it.

I'm going to keep a-lookin'!
I was just talking about the karaoke thing. In relation to having my very own fans.

Is he losing his touch?
LOL! You really should have been at Rosencon. Just because it was Awesome. Hysterical. Incredible. But also because (I had a point, I swear) we made a video there to send to MR. Including highights from the weekend and a lengthy discussion about how MR was cute and all, but Dave, Dave was great.
Yeah, you had to be there. Anyway, that was my inspiration for the tee.
