Though my holiday spirit has been dampened a bit (no pun intended)...

Last night I went to the Coffeehouse/Open Mic night. They have them here every month or so. It’s usually a lot of fun. They have snacks and music and board games. They cover the tables with butcher paper and leave crayons in the middle so we can “decorate”. Half the neighborhood shows up, and we all get to act like kids. Case in point: last time we played Truth Or Dare. I forgot how much fun I forgot to have as a kid.

Plus, when they open up the mic, there are a few people who perform every time. All of whom are really good.

Unfortunately, no one showed up last night. There was someone setting up the mic, someone watching tv, and me. No tables, no games, no fun to be had. And no one to have fun with. Major disappointment. Especially since I walked half an hour in the rain to get there and had to turn around and go back. That’s an hour I could have been sleeping. Oh, well.

Then tonight I was supposed to go Christmas caroling with a few friends. I haven't gone caroling for years. I could never get anyone to go with me before. So I was fairly excited. The pouring rain diminished the appeal somewhat, though. I ended up watching a video with Stacy instead. Which was very nice, but not so Christmas-y. Did I mention Oh, well?

Maybe I should throw in a Bah, Humbug. Nah, I'll hold off until tomorrow night, at least.
